Sunny days in Alicante (old town, marina and the beach)

I love Spanish culture, I love the food, the people, the language, the music, everything basically. Even if Romania is a Latin country, I still think that I was born in the wrong country. Having my lovely boyfriend and the best girl in the world with me just made everything perfect. Alicante is such a charming city, not so crowded with tourists, with lovely beaches and food. We stayed at hotel Goya, the hotel is really close to the beach. Our program was: every morning, we woke up for breakfast and coffee and then went straight to the beach. After the beach, we would go to a restaurant for lunch, come back to the hotel for a shower, change and go out to explore the city.

TOP 7 THINGS WE ENJOYED IN ALICANTE

THE POSTIGUET BEACH

… and its amazing view of the Benacantil hill. One of my favourite views in the world is the sea, the beach and the mountain behind. Because the mountain has a massive castle on the top, it really makes everything way more beautiful.

THE MARINA

… and the margaritas. Well, except for sangria, margaritas are definitely one of the best drinks in Spain. Drinking a margarita in the Marina while watching the sunset after a long hot day is one of the best ways to finish your day.

THE ESPLANADE

… with the palms. We walked every day through the Esplanade to go to the beach. I loved the little shops around there. From souvenirs to sweets, I wanted to buy everything. It was also our place to hide from the sun, under the palms.

THE NARROW STREETS

… in the city centre. I could spend a whole week wandering around the streets of the city centre, checking all the shops and trying all the Spanish food.

CASCO ANTIGUO - SANTA CRUZ NEIGHBOURHOOD

That's the most authentic place in Alicante. You can see here the culture of Spain, the typical places with the little houses on the hill, slope paving and whitewashed houses with colourful flowers on the facades.

SANTA BARBARA

Our favourite place was definitely the Santa Barbara Castle on the top of Benacantil hill. It is one of the largest medieval fortresses in Spain, and it's the best viewpoint in Alicante. We went to the top in the late afternoon, and we enjoyed the best sunset that I had ever seen.

THE FOOD AND THE DRINKS

… of course!

I really hope that this post will help you decide to go there on your next holiday. It is a place worth seeing and relaxing!
